If you are looking for an original setting for marriage vows, what could be better than a Colorado Rockies rustic alpine lodge, a historic hotel, a landmark, a small mountain chapel, or a historic train to make the day even more memorable. For the romantic adventurer, marriage on the slopes, atop a snow-capped mountain, or in a field of Alpine flowers is another way to create an unforgettable experience for your beloved along with friends and family. For the rugged romantic, there’s always a working ranch where you can rope in your honey on the range.
Debbie Reynolds, owner and operator of Rocky Mountain Lodge & Cabins in Cascade, Colorado, commented on how many people opt to get married in lodges throughout Colorado. Over 30% of her guests are honeymooners, with many of them choosing to hold their wedding party on the premises due to the majestic beauty of the area. Reynolds is happy to recommend caterers, decorators, and other businesses to help you create a quintessential Colorado wedding. In her rustic yet luxurious setting, guests can enjoy an intimate wedding party of no more than 40 people and then spend a few days exploring, with trips to Pike’s Peak, the Garden of the Gods, or other magnificent spots that surround Cascade. Reynolds will also recommend some well kept secret places for hiking off the beaten track, a treat that only guests of her lodge are privy to!

Create your own day
You don’t need a wedding planner to create a wedding that is special. In Colorado all you need is a marriage license from the County Clerk 30 days before your big day. Then find someone you admire to perform the ceremony, or write your own vows to make the event even more intimate. Include your family and friends in the planning by ask one of them to read a poem, play an instrument, or sing a song. Make sure you have a scrapbook ready so that everyone can write a personal message about the day.
Choose a theme for your wedding, with colors and flowers to match. Whether you marry in a field of wildflowers or on a snowy peak, it is easy to pull together a perfect event to give your loved one and your guests a wedding to remember.
Extracurricular Activities
Book a group trip for the wedding party so you can share some time with both sides of the family at once. Take a ski trip, a long hike through the mountains, tour historic towns, ride a historic train through the countryside, or hire a boat for a leisurely float down one of the many local rivers. Enjoying the Colorado Rockies with family and friends is a sure way of providing everyone with an incredible memory. You can also offer each guest a Colorado Official State Vacation Guide and Official State Map so that they can plan their own free time while staying in the Colorado Rockies. The guide and map are free and are easily found at any local convention center.
Choose your season
You cannot make a mistake when choosing the season for a wedding in Colorado. Each season has its magical gift, whether it’s a summer day in wildflower fields, an autumn afternoon surrounded by brilliantly colored Aspen trees, a winter’s day on top a snowy mesa, or a spring ceremony on a rolling green hillside. Planning a wedding should include the season that excites you the most!
Comfort comes first
Wherever you choose to have your wedding, be sure to attend to your guest’s every need. Make sure your directions are clear regarding transportation to and from the airport, see that everyone is booked properly in a hotel, and find ways to provide each and every guest with comfortable seating during the wedding ceremony and reception. You want to assure family and friends that their safety and comfort is of utmost importance to you so that they can fully enjoy the celebration of your day.
